Often we resist the idea of implementing a proper weight loss plan because we think of everything that we have to give up. Even the word “diet” conjures up ideas of deprivation & of just eating rabbit food & not being able to eat all the things that you love. But that’s not what it should mean at all. Our “diet” (and everybody has one whether they’re planning on losing weight or not) is made up of all the food that our bodies need to gain vital the nutrients that keep us healthy. The best weight loss diet needs to be varied enough to keep us interested in the food that we eat, it’s not about eating cardboard. The more we enjoy our food the less we feel starved & the more likely we are to stick to the plan in the long term.
Not many people would have thought that you could include peanut butter in a weight loss diet plan – but you can, in moderation of course. Nuts are an excellent source of protein, which is vital to our health & if you can get hold of cashew nut butter then that can be even better. Nuts in general are a great healthy & natural food & also doubly important if you are a vegetarian. Just don’t go for the dry roasted, super salty variety, eat them in their natural form.
How about great big, deep stacked, mouth watering sandwiches? It’s probably not the first thing that comes to mind when you’re trying to lose weight. But it’s important that you eat enough food to fill you up so that you don’t feel hungry all the time. Go for whole grain bread that’s high in fiber & pack it with tasty lean meats, green leaves, tomatoes & vegetables like onions & celery. To go with it you could try low fat quiche made with egg whites & maybe some low fat cheese.
For dessert a low fat yogurt can make a tasty & healthy end to a meal & add some sweetness that you’ve been craving. Fresh fruit is also one of the best sources of vitamins around & many have added healthy benefits too. Bananas are my favorite fast food, you can eat them just about anywhere. Grapefruit is wonderful in fighting fat & providing antioxidants with their anti cancer properties. There are grapefruit capsules available from health websites, but it is always much better to consume your nutrients from their natural sources if at all possible. And don’t forget the humble apple that makes a great dessert or tasty snack, is good for you & also makes you feel more full for longer.
And to drink? Well it may be the latest craze & not without good reason – green tea has a number of health benefits & is particularly good in helping you find your best weight loss diet. Think about it, you’re not giving anything up, you’re just adding a healthy caffeine free drink that actually raises your body’s metabolism to enable you to burn fat & other calories faster. Green tea also has a calming effect, can help lower your cholesterol & help optimize your heart rate & blood sugar level. No wonder everyone’s raving about the wonders of green tea. Finding the best weight loss plan for you isn’t about being negative, it’s about using your imagination & trying all the wonderful natural foods out there that are truly good for you.
